Resigning may affect your status of residence, so you must follow the proper procedures.
First, within 14 days of resigning, submit a "Notification regarding affiliated (contracted) organization” to the Immigration Services Agency of Japan.
You can complete this procedure using the following methods:
・Online (Electronic Filing System)
・By mail
・At an Immigration Services Agency office
Failure to submit this notification may affect the renewal or change of your status of residence and could result in penalties.
Additionally, if you remain unemployed for three months or longer after leaving your job without a valid reason, your status of residence may be revoked.
While job hunting, it’s a good idea to keep records of your applications and interviews for your peace of mind.
Furthermore, since you will no longer be covered by your company’s health insurance or employees’ pension insurance after leaving your job, you’ll need to complete the procedures to switch to National Health Insurance and the National Pension System at your local municipal office.
If you have any concerns, be sure to consult your accepting company (employer), your Registered Support Organization, or a Hello Work office as soon as possible.
