What happens if I fail the Japanese Language Proficiency Test?

Even if you fail, you can retake the test as many times as you like. Please rest assured that this does not mean you will be unable to go to Japan.
You can continue studying and retaking the test until you pass.

1. Specified Skilled Worker
・You can retake the test until you pass JLPT N4 or JFT-Basic A2
・If you already have a job offer, the company may wait for you until your next test

2. Technical Intern Training Program / Employment for Skill Development
・If you do not meet the required Japanese language level, it is common to extend the training period and try again.

3. Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services
・Depending on the job type, a high level of Japanese proficiency may be required.
・You may need to retake the exam or intensify your studies.
・In some cases, you can consult with the company to maintain your job offer on the condition that you pass the exam.
